Day 1

Transfer from Aurhsa Hotel to Rongai Gate

Begin your journey with a 4–5 hour drive from Arusha to Rongai Gate, passing through Moshi town and scenic rural landscapes. The route takes you to Kilimanjaro’s remote northern entrance, offering a peaceful start to your climb.

Nale Muru to Simba Camp

The trek begins at Nale Muru (1,950m) with a gentle 3–4 hour hike through cultivated farmland and pine forest, gradually entering the heath zone. You’ll arrive at Simba Camp (2,625m) on the edge of the moorland, with expansive views of the Kenyan plains.

Day 2

Simba Camp – Second Cave – Kikelewa Cave

From Simba Camp (2,625m), the trail climbs steadily through moorland to reach Second Cave (3,450m) for a rest stop. It then continues with sweeping views of Mawenzi Peak, ending at Kikelewa Cave Camp (3,600m) after a 6–7 hour trek, aiding acclimatization.

Day 3

Kikelewa Cave to Mawenzi Tarn

This 3–4 hour hike from Kikelewa Cave (3,600m) to Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330m) climbs steeply through alpine vegetation and rugged terrain. You'll arrive at a beautiful campsite beneath the jagged Mawenzi Peak, perfect for rest and acclimatization.

Day 4

Acclimatization Day at Mawenzi Tarn

Spend the day at Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330m) allowing your body to adjust to the altitude. A short acclimatization hike is typically done in the surrounding area, offering great views of Mawenzi’s rugged peaks and enhancing your chances of a successful summit.

Day 5

Mawenzi Tarn to School Hut

This 4–5 hour trek from Mawenzi Tarn (4,330m) to School Hut (4,750m) crosses the high-altitude alpine desert of the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. The trail is gradual but exposed, offering dramatic views and essential acclimatization before your summit attempt.

Day 6

School Hut – Uhuru Peak – Horombo Hut

Summit day begins just after midnight with a demanding 6–8 hour ascent from School Hut (4,750m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m)—the highest point in Africa. After enjoying the sunrise and summit views, you'll descend to Kibo Hut for a short rest, then continue down to Horombo Hut (3,720m), completing a long but unforgettable 12–14 hour trekking day.

Day 7

Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate

Descend from Horombo Hut (3,720m) to Marangu Gate (1,870m) on a 5–7 hour trek covering about 20 km. The trail winds through moorland and lush rainforest, offering a final glimpse of Kilimanjaro’s diverse ecosystems. At the gate, you’ll sign out and receive your summit certificate, marking the end of your adventure.

Transfer back to Arusha Hotel

After checking out at Marangu Gate, enjoy a comfortable 2.5 to 3-hour drive back to your Arusha hotel, passing through scenic foothills and local villages—a relaxing end to your Kilimanjaro journey.
